After decades' development in international tourism in
Suzhou ,a good number of tourist hotels with star status have
sprung up inside and outside the city proper,some in classical
garden styles and some in the style of multi-storeyed towers, and a
contingent of well-trained tour guides and service staff has been
formed.
Since 1979,when the special tour activity of Belltolling
Ceremony at Han Shan temple was-initiated,a series of special tour
items of local features have been developed and put into active
service. These items,offering new and broader perspectives on the
local customs and features,can be easily managed by travel
agencies,and allow for the tourists' participation,Visit to secluded
gardens is no longer the only choice for sight-seers,and a wide
range of exciting tourist activities highlight every season of the
year,such as the series of activities on water,various educational
tours, extensive survey of silk-making processes, seasonal
sight-seeing of plum blossoms,chrysanthemums or red maples,and
crab-catching tours,etc.
