Yunnan Started First Cross-border Holiday Train

The Kunming Railway Administration opened a special train to Hanoi, capital of Viet Nam, during the week-long May Day holiday period for tourists to and from Viet Nam.

This is the first cross-border train Yunnan Province has ever arranged for holidaymakers.

The train started from Kunming, the provincial capital, at 14:40 pm of April 30 and arrived at Hanoi at 19:30 the following day. Then passengers could visit Vietnamese scenic spots along the railway track or harbor and Ha Long, a natural heritage in Viet Nam. It took seven days to complete the trip.

The provincial public security department and travel services had accordingly worked out measures to simplify exit-entry formalities.

Guilin Hosted More Visitors

Guilin, one of China's most popular scenic cities, hosted more than 1.88 million tourists in the first three months of this year.
Statistics showed that 181,000 overseas tourists visited Guilin from January to March, up 21.23 percent from the same period of last year.
Tourists from Taiwan totaled 94,600, up 35.14 percent. Guilin also reported drastic increases in the numbers of tourists from other major overseas sources of tourism, such as the Republic of Korea, the United States and France.
Overseas tourists will enjoy preferential treatment in a range of aspects, including the prices of tickets to major scenic spots in Guilin.
It is expected that Guilin will launch two more international air routes and open an international train service from Guilin to Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, to attract more overseas tourists to Guilin.
