Huanji was built in the Qing Dynasty during
Kangxi's reign (1662-1723). As is recorded, an
earthquake in 1940 cracked the wall, making a crevice
a foot wide and a dozen yards long. After the quake,
however, the crevice closed up on its own, leaving a
clear scar on the wall.
